GNA-aligned Misrata Aviation Academy Planes Bombard South of Tripoli Causing Civilian Casualties - Al Marsad

UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) warplanes targeted civilian cars in Sidi al-Sayeh, south of Tripoli, injuring 3 young children who are now in critical condition. Horrific images of the attack have been circulating widely today in the Libyan press and social media. This article contains graphic images. 

[Libya, 4 July 2019] – A doctor at Tarhouna Hospital confirmed the death of two young men and the injury of two others. A family of four children and their parents were seriously injured due to bombing by warplanes of the GNA-aligned Misrata Aviation Academy. The raid targeted civilian cars in front of the Sidi al-Sayeh Petrol Station, south of the Libyan capital, Tripoli.

Eyewitnesses told Al-Marsad on Wednesday that a Misrata Aviation Academy warplane hit a fuel tank and a number of civilian vehicles near the Sidi al-Sayeh Petrol Station south of Tripoli.


Al Marsad received horrifying pictures that were posted on its social media platforms that graphically show seriously injured children upon their arrival at the hospital for treatment.

UNSMIL, international diplomats, organisations and the foreign press have yet to make a statement or to cover this attack by theUN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA).
