General Al-Ghazwi Denies Claims by Muslim Brotherhood’s Media Machine – Al Marsad

General al-Mabrouk al-Ghazwi, Commander of the Western Region Operations Group at the General Command of the Libyan National Army (LNA) denied claims by news media affiliated to the Presidential Council that some of his soldiers voluntarily surrendered themselves to armed militiamen affiliated to the Government of National Accord’s “Volcano of Anger” Operation.

[Libya, 24 August 2019] – The Libya Panorama Satellite TV, the media arm of the Justice and Construction Party, and the Eye of Libya platform, who are both affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood, have disseminated breaking news on Friday quoting  anonymous military sources on the capture of 17 Libyan National Army troops by the forces of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA). Furthermore, the pro-Muslim Brotherhood, Libya Al-Ahrar Satellite TV, quoted Operation Volcano of Anger’s announcement of the alleged capture of the LNA troops without specifying the source or the party that oversaw the alleged surrender process.

General al-Mabrouk al-Ghazwi, Commander of the Western Region Operations Group at the General Command of the Libyan National Army (LNA) described the news as mere allegations and wishes, as he put it. Al-Ghazwi told Al Marsad on Friday evening that the news published by “bankrupt” media platforms affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood were false, stressing that the aim of its dissemination is to try to raise the morale of their supporters and militias.

“Our forces, who believe in the justice of the Libyan national cause, have no reason or motive to surrender to these criminals, terrorists and bandits led by internationally wanted persons, fuel smugglers, and their Chadian mercenaries. Victory, martyrdom, injury or capture in combat are all possible outcomes in any battle, and our soldiers know that. The word surrender to the Muslim Brotherhood gangs is not in our military dictionary,” Al-Ghazwi said.

The word surrender to the Muslim Brotherhood gangs is not in our military dictionary,” General Al-Ghazwi, LNA.

“These media outlets are reporting wishful thinking. Such fabricated news are always attributed to an unidentified military or security source,” he added. “If they had one prisoner today from our troops, they would have shown him immediately through their miserable Qatari and Turkish channels that broadcast in Libyan dialect. This is just a propaganda of lies that we do not respond to, except in rare cases, so that their followers know how they are being misled,” continued General Al-Ghazwi of the LNA.

He concluded: “This naive news has been broadcast on their media platforms since the morning, and we have not commented on it. They do so because they are dishonest and do not even respect the minds of their viewers at all, and they are broadcasting such news in an attempt to make their masters in Qatar and Turkey believe that they are doing something on the ground. ”

“We were waiting so that they might broadcast at least archived images of any prisoners of war to prove the credibility of what they were broadcasting, to raise the morale of their criminal or deceived supporters who kill and get killed for the sake of their ringleader, Fathi Bashagha, and his affiliates.”
