Al-Mahjoub: The LNA is on a Daily War of Attrition Against the Militias – Al Marsad

The Director of the Media Centre of the Operation Flood of Dignity Operations Room of the Libyan National Army, Brigadier General Khalid al-Mahjoub said that armed formations of terrorist militias launched an attack on the city of Murzuq. He pointed out that the LNA-monitored pictures and names of those terrorist fighters in Libya indicate their cooperation with the Islamic State organization.

[Libyan, 1 September 2019] – Brigadier General al-Mahjoub said in a statement to the Egyptian channel TEN according to the news platform, Akhbar al-Youm, on Wednesday that the Libyans have two options; either the State and the Libyan National Army (LNA), or the militias and a state of anarchy. Al-Mahjoub considered that the Turkish agenda in Libya aims at disintegrating the country’s social fabric and displacing the Libyan tribes. He noted there is an indirect and hidden support from Turkey to the armed militias in Libya, such as the issuance of credit cards, as well as the currency trade that aims at strengthening the foreign exchange rate of the Turkish currency.

Brigadier General Khalid al-Mahjoub pointed out that the Government of National Accord (GNA) militias suffered heavy losses in the fighting areas around Gharyan, and that the Libyan National Army (LNA) continues its plan to drag the militias in a war of attrition on a daily basis to inflict as many casualties and equipment losses as possible.

“The militias are in a state of complete organizational and moral collapse, especially in light of the intensification of LNA Air Force sorties over combat frontlines, which regularly target sites and gatherings of armed groups in different locations,” al-Mahjoub said.
