Khaled Mishri Accuses Saif Al Islam of Suffering from Psychiatric Disorder – Al Marsad

Khaled al-Mishri, Chairman of the consultative High Council of State (HCS), and a senior member of the Muslim Brotherhood, claimed that he knows who is behind the support of Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the eldest son of the late Libyan leader, the late Colonel Muammar Gaddafi. Al-Mishri said that those who are supporting Saif al-Islam Gaddafi attempt are trying to push themselves to the forefront of the Libyan political landscape to lead the forthcoming phase in the country.

[Libya, 20 November 2019] – In an interview with the Qatari-sponsored, pro-Muslim Brotherhood news platform, Arabi 21, Khaled al-Mishri said that Moscow is the formidable backer behind Saif-al-Islam. Al-Mishri claimed that Russia considers Saif al-Islam Gaddafi its future project in Libya and is seen as supporting him more than the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar.

“Saif al-Islam is just a media hype in Libya. In the real world, he doesn’t have much weight on the ground. He is psychologically incompetent to lead any political stage in the future,”  Al-Mishri verbally criticised Saif al-Islam and he was “suffering from psychiatric disorders as a result of the pressures he has been going through since the regime of his father was toppled in 2011.”

Furthermore, Al-Mishri continued to characterize the position of Saif al-Islam from a judiciary perspective. He said that the International Criminal Court (ICC) classifies him as a wanted person for committing what he described as “crimes against Libyans during the revolution, and is facing criminal cases before the Libyan courts. Therefore, he will not be able to overcome these impediments and will not have any political future in Libya.”

“There are attempts to grant amnesty to Saif al-Islam within the framework of the General Amnesty Law that was issued by the Libyan House of Representatives. He will not be included in any amnesty because he is involved in public crimes, and because the General Amnesty Law itself is void by virtue of the Libyan Political Agreement,” claimed Al-Mishri.
