Sarraj and Sanallah Discuss Oil Levels But Silent on LNA Securing El-Feel Oilfield from Militiamen – Al Marsad

The Chairman of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez al-Sarraj met on Saturday with the Head of the National Oil Corporation (NOC) Mustafa Sanallah to discuss increase in daily output of the oil fields. However, no acknowledgment was made by either two of the fact that the LNA forces had managed to secure the El-Feel oilfield from the GNA-aligned South Protection Force (SPF) who had caused disruption to the oilfield.

[Libya, 1 December 2019] – The meeting, which was held at the headquarters of the Presidential Council in the capital Tripoli, dealt with the implementation phases of oil sector development plans and means of enabling the NOC to gradually increase the daily output of the oil fields in order to boost oil exports from Libya.

It is noteworthy that during a previous meeting the GNA Chairman and NOC Head discussed increasing investment in the Libyan oil sector and allocating additional funding provision for the NOC in the coming period to implement development  programmes. These programmes which include, among other targets, the production and exploration, refining and transport of crude oil and petroleum derivatives.

However, the briefing of the meeting of Fayez al-Sarraj with Mustafa Sanallah did not refer or condemn at all the attack by the GNA-aligned South Protection Force (SPF), reinforced with armed militiamen led by the GNA-affiliated Ali Kana, on the El-Feel oil field.

The Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord (GNA) refrained from eulogizing one of its staunchest supporters in southern Libya, the SPF Commander Hassan Mousa Souki, who was killed in an air strike by the Air Force of the Libyan National Army (LNA) after the LNA restored the El-Feel oil field and its facilities from the SPF armed gangs.
