Sheikh Tamim Reiterates Qatar’s Support for the Government in Tripoli and its Forces   – Al Marsad

The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, received on Wednesday morning, the delegation of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) headed by Fathi Bashagha, the GNA Interior Minister.

[Libya, 4 December 2019] – Panorama TV, the media arm of the Muslim Brotherhood, mentioned that the GNA Interior Minister and his accompanying delegation discussed with the Emir of Qatar the latest developments in Libya and “issues of common concern between the two countries.”

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani stressed during his meeting with the GNA delegation Qatar’s commitment to support Libya in capacity building, particularly building the army and police of the Tripoli-seated Presidential Council.

The Emir of Qatar affirmed “his country’s firm and supportive stance to the aspirations of the Libyan people for the unity, security and stability of the country,” according to the pro-GNA television station.

Furthermore, the Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, met on Wednesday afternoon with  the Minister of Interior of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord who is currently visiting Qatar. According to the Libya Panorama TV, the meeting discussed the mutual cooperation between the two governments.

The GNA Minister of Interior and the accompanying delegation arrived early Wednesday at Hamad International Airport in Doha. The GNA delegation, on a visit to discuss files of common interest between Doha and Tripoli, was received by the Ambassador of Qatar to Libya, Mohammed bin Nasser Al Thani.
