Bashagha to Libyans in Qatar: Security Situation in Tripoli is Safe and Normal – Al Marsad

The Minister of the Interior of the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA), Fathi Bashagha said during a visit to Qatar that the security situation in the capital Tripoli was stable.

[Libya, 6 December 2019] – Speaking to the Libyan community in the Qatari capital, Doha on Thursday, Bashaga added that life in Tripoli was safe and proceeding normally, despite reports disseminated by what he described as some paid media platforms.

The GNA Minister of the Interior also met with a group of Libyans residing in Qatar and discussed with them the conditions of the Libyan community working and living in the State of Qatar.

The seriousness of the clashes that took place on 4 December outside Prime Minister’s offices and the Finance Ministry between RADA and the pro-GNA militias was not elaborated by Bashagha, but together with several other developments within Tripoli are an indication that all is not well in the capital city, despite assurances from the GNA that is safe and normal.
