Aguila Saleh Meets with the Speaker of the Arab Parliament – Al Marsad

Dr. Mishaal bin Fahm Al-Salami, Speaker of the Arab Parliament, received in Cairo today Chancellor Aguila Saleh, Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives. Chancellor Saleh briefed Al-Salami on the latest developments in the Libyan situation and the recent GNA-Turkey maritime boundaries and jurisdictions delimitation agreement.

[Libya, 9 December 2019] – The Media Adviser to the Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, Abdul Hamid al-Safi Afkiren, confirmed in statements in Cairo, today, to Al Marsad that Chancellor Aguila Saleh stressed during the meeting, the rejection by the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) of the so-called MOU between Fayez al-Sarraj and Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Chancellor Aguila said that Libya does not have common borders with Turkey, and that this is a clear violation of the United Nations covenants and laws.

Afkiren confirmed that the Speaker of the Arab Parliament appealed to the Libyan parties to resort to the language of dialogue in order to preserve the security and unity of the Libyan state and the safety of its people, stressing the latter’s support for the legitimacy of the Libyan House of Representatives and its full solidarity with the Libyan people to achieve stability and security in their  country, refusing and condemning any interference in the Libyan state’s affairs.

Dr. Mishaal bin Fahm Al-Salami, Speaker of the Arab Parliament said in a statement after the meeting that he affirmed to the Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives  the full solidarity of the Arab Parliament with Libya.

Afkiren concluded that the high level parliamentary meeting was positive and fruitful, representing another confirmation by the Arab Parliament of the legitimacy of the Libyan House of Representatives and all institutions connected to it.
