Sarraj meets with Turkish Foreign Minister in Doha – Al Marsad

After a meeting with Fayez al-Sarraj in Qatari capital Doha today, the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu confirmed that his country is committed to defending what he described as its “rights and interests” in the eastern Mediterranean through the agreement that was signed between Turkey and Fayez al-Sarraj and which the international community has condemned as violating the Laws of the Sea.

[Libya, 14 December 2019] – Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said in a tweet via his Twitter account, that he met the President of the President, Fayez Al-Sarraj, on the sidelines of the Doha Forum to discuss the memorandum of understanding signed between Ankara and Tripoli on the demarcation of the maritime border.

The Turkish Foreign Minister added: “We discussed a memorandum of understanding, and we confirmed that we will continue to defend our legitimate rights and interests in the eastern Mediterranean.”

Fayez al-Sarraj and Mohamed Siala also met with the Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar to discuss details of the agreement signed between the GNA and Turkey which covers the maritime borders but also security.
