Aguila Saleh: Qatar Reimburses GNA Purchases of Turkish Military Equipment Dispatched to Libya – Al Marsad

Chancellor Aguila Saleh, the Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives (HOR) revealed that a number of Turkish military personnel have been killed in Libya. Chancellor Saleh also said that the State of Qatar pays the bill of the Turkish shipments of military equipment dispatched to Libya purchased by the GNA. 

[Libya, 17 December 2019] – Chancellor Saleh said in an exclusive interview with RT on Monday in Cairo said that the Government of National Accord (GNA) led by Fayez al-Sarraj is weak, and that the GNA sought Turkish assistance after its forces have come under military pressure.

Saleh was of the opinion that the recent controversial MOUs that the GNA concluded with the Ankara government are based on extortion, describing the maritime MOU between the two parties as a “contract of compliance.”

The Speaker of the Libyan Parliament accused the Turkish regime of transporting soldiers and weapons to his country, explaining that there were Turkish armoured vehicles and drones in Libya that have been destroyed by the Libyan National Army (LNA) troops and its Air Force, confirming that there have been casualties among Turkish military officers and personnel.

Chancellor Aguila Saleh reiterated his accusation that Qatar is supporting the GNA military effort through reimbursing the purchases of Turkish-made military equipment by the GNA.
