Greece: We Will Escalate Measures Against Turkey for Passing the MOU with GNA through Parliament – Al Marsad

Greek Defence Minister, Nikos Panagiotopoulos, said this weekend that his country will escalate measures against Turkey in the coming period.

[Libya, 22 December 2019] – The Greek Minister of Defence confirmed during a phone interview on a local channel, that Turkey was stepping up its actions on many levels and from now on Greece will do its necessary work.

He added that the Greek armed forces would continue to do what was necessary to preserve every piece of land in the country and will deter any violation.

Commenting on the Turkish Parliament passing the MOU on military assistance to the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA), Defence Minister Panagiotopoulos said: “It will not be so simple, and Turkey will find many countries against it. We are doing our work regardless of what Erdogan says.”

Reports say that the Greek and the Egyptian Navy will form a coalition in support of the Libyan House of Representatives (HOR) to protect Libya‘s territorial waters and confront any ships carrying both weapons & jihadists as well as Turkish army troops from Turkey to Libya.
