LNA Monitored a Commercial Plane Loaded With Military Equipment from Istanbul to Libya – Al Marsad

The Spokesperson of the Libyan National Army General Command, General Ahmed Al-Mesmari, told Reuters that a plane airlifting military equipment from Istanbul to a Libyan airport has been spotted.

[Libya, 23 December 2019] – General Ahmed Al-Mesmari said the multi-purpose Boeing 747-412 was monitored by the Libyan National Army (LNA). Its point of departure was in Istanbul and it carried a shipment of weapons to the Libyan territory.

Al-Mesmari reminded air carriers of a previous warning issued by the LNA General Command against airlifting military cargo destined for Libya.

“The civilian status of the aircraft is revoked as soon as it is used for military purposes,” General Ahmed Al-Mesmari warned air carriers of weapon shipments to Libya.

The LNA’s close monitoring and intelligence assets on the ground confirmed in previous occasions the arrival of Turkish shipments of weapons, ammunition, armoured vehicles and various military equipment to several seaports and airports controlled by the militias of the Government of National Accord (GNA).
