Mishri: Sarraj-Kabir Dispute is Unacceptable, Libya is Not a Game – Al Marsad

Head of the Consultative State Council and a leading Muslim Brotherhood member, Khalid Al-Mishri, said that he will not be silent about what is going on between the President of the Presidential Council, Fayez al-Sarraj, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), Siddik Al-Kabir.

[Libya, 3 April 2020] – Al-Mishri, in a tweet on his official account yesterday, Thursday, said: “Anyone who does not speak the truth is a silent devil. We will not keep silent about what is happening between the President of the Presidential Council and the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya. Libya is not a game.”

It is noteworthy that the President of the Presidential Council had accused the CBL Governor of hijacking the country’s monetary policy, stopping the clearing and remittance systems, and interfering in the State’s economic and financial policies, calling for initiating the steps and procedures for unifying the CBL.

On his part, Siddik al-Kabir confirmed that Sarraj issued his statement as if it were a personal matter and attributed his temporary suspension of foreign exchange sales to extreme necessity arising from the interruption of oil production and export. Kabir added that the suspension of the banking system in the Benghazi branch was a precautionary step.
