[Libya, 16 April 2020] – Jonathan Winer in a tweet on his official account today, Thursday, said: “Cycles of revenge will further damage Libya. Critical for GNA to take all possible steps to prevent atrocities by any affiliated force or person & if they occur to enforce human rights laws.”

The GNA militias retook Surman and Sabratha during the weekend, yet it was marked by criminal acts of violence committed by GNA fighters including assassinations, arrests, looting, arson, the burning of police stations, and the release of over 600 hardcore prisoners from jails in both cities. Photos from Sabratha, taken after the burning of the police station, showed a militia vehicle with the portrait of the terrorist Wissam bin Hamid.
