Syrian Observatory: Syrian Fighters Loyal to Turkey in Libya Will Reach 7,400, with 199 Dead in Battle Against Libyan Army – Al Marsad

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented more loss among Syrian fighters during military operations in Libya, as 9 Turkish mercenaries were killed in battles against the Libyan armed forces led by Field Marshal  Khalifa Haftar in several parts of Libya that are now witnessing violent battles.

[Libya, 21 April 2020] – The Syrian Observatory stated on Monday that the total number of deaths among the fighters loyal to Turkey after recent military operations has reached 199 fighters. They added that these were fighters from the Syrian  Mu’tasim Division, Sultan Murad Division, Northern Falcons Division, Al-Hamzat Division, and Suleyman Shah Division.

According to Al Marsad sources, the fighters were killed during clashes around the Salah al-Din area located south of Tripoli, Al Ramla near Tripoli airport, and Al Hadaba Project—in addition to battles in Misrata and other Libyan regions.

The Syrian Observatory pointed out that Turkey continues to send mercenaries into Libya to fight alongside the Government of National Accord (LNA) on its battles against the National Army. It also observed the arrival of a new unit of tens of fighters loyal to Ankara in Libya, bringing the total number of soldiers who have arrived in Libya to approximately 5,300 mercenaries. In addition, the number of soldiers who have arrived in Turkish bases for training for deployment in Libya with GNA militias has reached approximately 2,100 soldiers.
