The Sudanese Armed Forces denied transferring soldiers to Libya and slammed the fake news broadcast by Qatar-based al-Jazeera satellite channel. The Sudanese army pledged to take all legal procedures against Al-Jazeera.

[Libya, 1 May 2020] – The spokesman of the Armed Forces, Brig. Dr. Amer Mohamed Al-Hassan, said in an official statement that the news channel of al-Jazeera has broadcast fake news that aims to mislead the public opinion at the local, regional and International levels and to cast doubts on the credibility of the Sudanese leadership and its unbiased intentions towards any warring party in Libya.

The newspaper Youm7 quoted his statement: “The fake news referred to the arrival of an Emirati plane at the Khartoum military base at Khartoum Airport in the framework of the U.A.E. aid to other countries including Sudan on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.”

Brig. Al-Hassan stressed that the U.A.E. plane’s mission does not include transferring other continent from Sudan, adding that “talking about the arrival of an UAE’s military official to Sudan and transferring military personnel from Sudan to support the warring parties in Libya is totally baseless and not incorrect news. The satellite channel did not investigate the news and did not follow the accuracy, credibility and journalistic professionalism standards because it did not double-check the news from original sources.”

The spokesman of the Sudanese Armed Forces pledged to take all legal measures against Al Jazeera News Channel so as to preserve the rights of the leadership and people of Sudan, protect their sovereignty and hold all those responsible for such action accountable for promoting fake news that affect the security and stability of Sudan.

Moreover, Lt. Gen. Abdel Fattah Burhan, the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council of Sudan and the Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces, thanked the leadership and people of the United Arab Emirates and the sons of Sheikh Zayed for their generous and continuous support of their Sudanese brothers, according to the statement quoted by Youm7.
