Kemal Kılıçdaroglu: Erdogan Has Turned Turkey Into a Family Business – Al Marsad

The leader of the Turkish opposition, President of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), Kemal Kılıçdaroglu, said that Erdogan will inevitably leave office and he knows that, adding: “Everyone stays in power for a certain period until there comes a time when he cannot convince the voters anymore and leaves office. This is the case with Erdogan now.”

[Libya, 4 May 2020] – Kemal Kılıçdaroglu said during a television interview, according to Al-Arabiya website, that the crisis of the coronavirus outbreak in Turkey provided an opportunity for society to reflect and that the situation in Turkey after this crisis will not be as it was before it. He said that Turkey has the largest share of the repercussions of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

Kılıçdaroglu blamed the Minister of Treasury and Finance, Berat Albayrak, Erdogan’s son-in-law, for the deteriorating economic conditions in the country since he took office. He referred to Albayrak’s inability to implement any plans to revive the economy, calling for his resignation. “Turkey has become a family business: the president rules and his son-in-law tightens his grip on the treasury”, he said.

The leader of the Turkish opposition again called for a new constitution for the country to ensure the removal of all obstacles to freedom of thought, beliefs, the media, freedom of association, the principle of separation of powers, and the independence of the judiciary.
