Reida El Oakley: Turkey Supports Extremism, Terrorism, and Militia Chaos against the Libyan Army – Al Marsad

The former Libyan Minister of Health, Dr Reida El Oakley, said that Libya was key for Egyptian security and a main pillar of the Arab, national, and the world economy, in addition to being vital for strategic and security well being of the Mediterranean region and neighbouring countries.

[Libya, 5 May 2020] – In a statement to the Egyptian newspaper Al-Dustour on Monday, El Oakley said that what is happening in Libya now is a blatant interference to bring the Ottoman Empire back to the Arab region under the guise of religion and the ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood. He stressed the Libyan Muslim Brotherhood’s loyalty is to their Supreme Leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey, and to Qatar. “As for the sisterly countries of Tunisia and Algeria, they have turned a blind eye to the interference of the fake emperor in Libya,” argued El Oakley.

He pointed out that direct Turkish intervention in the Libyan issue should be subject to Article 7 of the United Nations Charter, which prohibits any individual intervention in any sovereign country without the consensus of the United Nations and the Security Council.

He indicated that the Turkish intervention supports extremism, terrorism, and the chaos of militias in Tripoli against the Libyan National Army (LNA) led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar. “The Arab countries have remained silent, except for Egypt, which calls for an urgent meeting of the League of Arab States to agree on a unified position against the Turkish interference travel in the Arab region,” added former Libya’s Minister of Health.

El Oakley stressed that the support of the vast majority of Libyans, led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, is a support for the stability of Libya and the efforts for fighting terrorism and its supporters led by Turkey, which has now shipped a total of 7,000 Syrian mercenaries to Tripoli to fight the LNA.
