Mohamed Al-Fakhri, a military official of the Libyan National Army (LNA), said that the army units that control Tripoli International Airport and most of the airport road leading to the heart of Tripoli are still in position.

(Libya, 22 May 2020) – Mohamed Al-Fakhri, in a statement to the Italian Nova news agency on Wednesday, added: “The militias of the Government of National Accord (GNA) rejected the humanitarian truce announced by the army at the end of the month of Ramadan on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr.”

He pointed out that the GNA’s militants targeted the civilian neighborhoods of Ain Zara and Northern Tarhouna with artillery shells supported by Turkish drones, and Syrian mercenaries on the ground.

Al-Fakhri asserted that the terrorists, militias, and mercenaries temporarily allied with Fayez Al-Sarraj’s government recently intensified the bombing of residential neighborhoods, medical facilities, and humanitarian convoys.
