Algerian FM: Continued Flow of Weapons Into Libya Has Contributed to Arming Terrorist Groups – Al Marsad

Algerian Foreign Minister Sabri Boukadoum stressed that regional and international agendas only agree to keep Libya in a state of chaos and a theatre of war, pointing out that the continued flow of weapons into Libya contributed to arming terrorist groups.

(Libya, 28 May 2020) – Algerian Foreign Minister Sabri Boukadoum, in a statement issued by the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday said “I cannot fail in this regard to express our deep concern about the dangerous developments in Libya over recent weeks, which unfortunately confirm the conflict of regional and international agendas that seem to agree only in keeping Libya in a state of anarchy, a scene for proxy wars, and an arena for settling scores at the expense of the blood of the brotherly Libyan people. ”

“The large flow of arms into Libya in flagrant violation of international resolutions not only fuelled the civil war, but also contributed to arming terrorist groups that have been destabilizing the region and hindering the path of a political settlement to this crisis,” added Boukadoum.

He continued: “I reiterate Algeria’s willingness to embrace the Libyan dialogue and its emphasis on the pivotal role that neighboring countries and the African Union should play in the international process to settle the Libyan crisis.”
