Turkish, US officials Discuss the Situation in Libya – Al Marsad

Turkey’s Presidential Spokesperson Ibrahim Kalın discussed developments in Syria and Libya over the phone with US National Security adviser Robert O’Brien on Monday.

(Libya, 2 May 2020) – A statement issued by the Turkish Presidential Spokesperson stated, according to the Anadolu Agency (AA), that the urgency of the establishment of a political solution in Libya under the leadership of the United Nations was emphasized in the phone call, while the officials also stressed that the unlawful attacks of “putschist Gen. Khalifa Haftar”, who violated all the ceasefire agreements, including the Berlin process, as claimed, should be stopped.

However, Kalın made no mention Turkey’s role in sending mercenaries and terrorists from Syria to Libya, nor its support for the militants of the Government of National Accord (GNA) who include extremist and internationally sanctioned groups by sending them drones and heavy weapons in flagrant violation of the relevant UN resolution on arms embargo on Libya.
