Turkish Defense Minister to Erdogan: Our Drones Helped Control Tripoli – Al Marsad

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made a phone call to Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar and brief on his country’s military units operating near the border with Syria.

(Libya, 5 June 2020) – Erdogan said, according to the Turkish Anadolu Agency (AA), that the solidarity shown with those he described as “brothers in Libya” (militants of the Government of National Accord), and the “advisory services” they provided proved how strong their performance is, as he put it.

He stressed that the developments of the situation in northern Iraq, Libya, the “Spring of Peace” area, and Idlib, Syria, showed the strength of Turkey’s capabilities.

Defense Minister Hulusi Akar assured Erdogan that, thanks to the so-called “advisory services” provided by the Turkish army to the GNA’s militants, the latter managed to liberate the entire capital, Tripoli, from what he described as the “militia of the coup general Khalifa Haftar” (Libyan Armed Forces), while the Turkish drones contributed to the destruction of many of “Haftar militia'” sites and materiel.
