Salah Badi’s Al-Samoud Brigade Rejects the Cairo Declaration – Al Marsad

Ahmida al-Jarou, Spokesperson of al-Samoud Brigade led by the UN-sanctioned Salah Badi, described the Cairo Declaration launched by Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi in the presence of Speaker of the Libyan Parliament Chancellor Aguila Saleh and Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army Field Marshal Haftar to resolve the current political crisis as a “farce”.

(Libya, 7 June 2020) – In a post on his official Facebook page, al-Jarou argued that Egypt has no right to interfere, play the role of mediator or initiate initiatives. He said Egypt was an enemy country and not neutral that contributed to killing many Libyans and destroying their homes.

He said, “The defeated has no right to propose an initiative to the victor, dictate its conditions, and speak about the distribution of public offices. Therefore, sitting or negotiating with Aguila or Haftar is a betrayal of the martyrs and a loss of the homeland.”

Al-Samoud Brigade, which is aligned to the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) demanded everyone to unite behind this position and not allow opportunists to exploit the so-called “sacrifices and martyrs.”

The Cairo Declaration has now been endorsed by USRussia, France, Greece, UK, BahrainUAESaudi ArabiaJordan, the Arab Parliament and the League of Arab States.
