Tunisian President Says GNA’s Legitimacy is Temporary; New Authority is Necessary – Al Marsad

Tunisian President Kais Saied said that the Government of National Accord (GNA) in Libya has temporary legitimacy, stressing the need for a new authority to supersede it while reiterating Tunisia’s refusal for any division of Libya.

(Libya, 23 June 2020) – Tunisian President Kais Saiedat a joint press conference with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, stated: “The current authority in Tripoli is based on international legitimacy, but this international legitimacy is temporary and cannot continue forever. It must be replaced by a new legitimacy that emanates from the will of the Libyan people.”

He added: “I assert this from this platform and from Paris that Tunisia does not accept any division of Libya.”
