Al-Mismari: LNA Will Stand Against Any Offensive in Sirte by Turkey – Al Marsad

The spokesperson for the Libya National Army (LNA), Major General Ahmed al-Mismari, described the initiative announced by the Government of National Accord (GNA) headed by Fayez al-Sarraj as “mere misleading of public opinion.”

(Libya, 24 August 2020) – Al-Mismari, in a press conference yesterday, Sunday, as reported by the Russian Sputnik agency, said that Fayez al-Sarraj’s initiative is nothing more than a red herring to mislead local and international public opinion and cover up their true intentions on the situation in Libya.

“We have detected suspicious movements and transfer of units over the past 24 hours, including 2 Turkish-made frigates and 3 warships advancing towards the coast of Sirte in a combat position to attack the armed forces. We have also detected a vast mobilization of militias in al-Hishah-Qaddahiyah-Zamzam line and sending large groups of militias to this line in preparation for a full-scale offensive against the LNA stationed in Sirte,” elaborated al-Mismari.

The army spokesman warned that any offensive would be met by force and that the armed forces would engage with the enemy in case of attacking its elements in Sirte.
