Mitsotakis: Transferring Syrian Mercenaries to Libya Threatens North African and European Security – Al Marsad

The Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said that the violations committed by Turkey assaulted and insulted international resolutions of the Security Council, and also led to problems in NATO. He said such behaviour poses policy problems for  important countries such as the United States, Russia, and Arab natios.

(Libya, 22 October 2020) – According to Al-Watan Egyptian newspaper, during a press conference at the end of the Greek-Egyptian-Cypriot summit, the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis added: “We had the opportunity to realize the implications of these Turkish provocative activities. We have discussed on a bilateral and tripartite level how the illegal memorandum between Ankara and the administration in Tripoli, which depends on non-existent maritime borders, may have many implications.”

Mitsotakis added that the transfer of Syrian mercenaries threatens the situation in North Africa and also Europe’s security, and undermines what nations do to combat terrorism.

He urged that a political solution in Libya must come from Libyans only, without any foreign intervention.
