Sarraj to Biden: I Want to Achieve a Civil State in Libya – Al Marsad

Fayez al-Sarraj, head of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord (GNA), rushed to send a message yesterday to Joe Biden as soon as the US media announced he had won the presidency.

(Libya, 8 November 2020) – Official media affiliated with the Presidential Council reported that Fayez Al-Sarraj congratulated the US President-elect Joseph Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on winning the elections.”

Sarraj, who recently backtracked on his resignation, also expressed in his letter to Biden and Harris, who will both formally take over power early next year, his “aspiration to work with them to achieve a civil democratic state in Libya.”

It is noteworthy that democratic candidate Joe Biden won the election to become the 46th president of the United States of America after defeating Donald Trump in the wake of a dramatic vote count that is still being challenged by President Trump because of suspicions surrounding possible fraudulent mail-in voting.
