Abdul-Hamid Dbaiba: “All Libyans Respect Ali Dbaiba, Bribes Are Not Our Way” – Al Marsad

The candidate for the post of the Prime Minister of Tunisia’s Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) government, Abdul-Hamid Dbaiba, said the accusations leveled against him and his family through his cousin, Ali Dbaiba, a member of the LPDF, for paying bribes and buying votes were malicious rumours by their opponents.

(Libya, 15 November 2020) – Abdul-Hamid Dbaiba said in a statement to the Sada Libya newspaper: “We participate proudly to serve Libya. We cannot make such an unethical mistake. These are unfounded allegations.” He denounced the so-called “rumors” as an attempt to bring him down at this difficult stage in Libya’s history.

Several reports have circulated this week on a “vote-buying marathon” to win the Prime Minister’s post, headed by Ali and Abdul-Hamid Dbaiba, Fathi Bashagha, and others.

Ghazi Moalla: “Price of the Vote has Reached 500,000 Euros Within the LPDF”

Abdul-Hamid Dbaiba affirmed that the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has not referred to this issue and that he had not heard of it on either a personal or a public level, pointing out that all Libyans know his cousin, the LPDF’s member Ali Dbaiba, and respect him. His morals do not allow him to offer bribes for any reason, as he put it.

It is noteworthy that the political analyst Mohamed Eljarh confirmed yesterday via his twitter account that two LPDF’s members informed him that they had received a bribe offer from one of Ali Dbaiba’s companions in the LPDF to buy their votes for the benefit of Abdul-Hamid Dbaiba.
