Libyan political science professor Youssef al-Farsi said United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL)’s efforts failed because it gave the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood organization and the corrupt militia lords prominence in the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) that took place in Tunisia.

(Libya, 18 November 2020) – In exclusive statements to Al-Ain News on Wednesday, al-Farsi said that the Libyan people had agreed to political dialogue at the outset to reach a solution to the crisis and get rid of the burden of the status quo.

He added, “The Muslim Brotherhood sought to buy the votes of the LPDF’s members with high sums to win the prime ministry, which in turn controls the entire Libyan scene.”

Al-Farsi stressed that quota-based positions are not conducive to a viable state in the modern sense. Rather, technocratic expertise should be sought for all positions, he asserted.
