Siala Calls for the Release of Oil Revenues this December – Al Marsad

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Mohamed Siala, said that the oil exports revenues to Libya are currently frozen at the Libyan Foreign Bank (LBF), and that this should be unfrozen before the end of year to ensure the resumption of services for Libyans.

(Libya, 2 December 2020) – In his speech during a panel discussion on the sidelines of the 6th edition of the Mediterranean Dialogue Forum in Rome, under the auspices of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI), Mohamed Siala said oil production has been resumed and 1 million barrels currently being extracted per day.

He said production and fallen to 150,000 barrels per day during the war.

Siala expressed his hope that the oil revenues would be unfrozen soon so that the GNA can begin to guarantee services for next year.

Other Libyan speakers at the 6th edition of the Mediterranean Dialogue Forum in Rome included the Presidential Council’s Ahmed Maitiq and Tariq Yousef Magarief, who is currently the director of Brookings-Doha.
