Pro-Turkey GNA Defense Minister Threatens to Control Entire Libyan Soil by Force – Al Marsad

Salah al-Din al-Namroush, the pro-Turkish Defense Minister of the Government of National Accord (GNA), delivered a speech today, Sunday, on the occasion of the anniversary of the Bunyan Al-Marsous battle against ISIS in Sirte, after the latter tried to advance to the city of Misrata.

(Libya, 6 December 2020) – According to the Operation Volcano of Anger media centre of the Presidential Council, Salah al-Din al-Namroush said they had not cleansed Sirte of ISIS forces only to hand it over to those he described as “mercenaries and foreigners”. He said revealing that they had no choice but to extend “state power” (GNA’s rule) over the entire Libyan soil.

“What is happening today is similar to what happened four years ago. The enemy is one, even if the names differ. The killers of different nationalities take our country as a den to carry out their attacks and will inevitably meet the same fate,” argued al-Namroush.

Al-Namroush, however, did not indicate that his ministry opened the way for Turkey to transfer more than 15,000 mercenaries from Syria to Libya, including former ISIS and Al-Qaeda fighters.

He concluded by saying, “We have made all possible concessions to save our homeland. Whoever rejects Libya is the enemy, no matter how proficient it may be in formulating slogans.”

Al-Namroush’s statements run counter to the positive work done by the military delegations of the GNA and the LNA General Command who continue to arrange the implementation of the 10-Member Committee (or the 5+5 military track) agreement on a ceasefire, opening roads between East and West, and resumption of flights between the east, west and south of the country, and in light of other efforts to unify the Central Bank of Libya (CBL).
