The Head of the advisory High Council of State, Khaled al-Mishri, who is also a member of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Justice and Development Party (JCP), congratulated Qatar on its 142nd National Day, wishing the emirate lasting security, peace, progress and prosperity.

(Libya, 21 December 2020) – According to the Media Office of the Advisory High Council, Khaled al-Mishri sent congratulatory messages to the Qatari Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, and the Father Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, underscoring the solid bilateral ties.

He also sent greeting to the head of the Consultative Assembly of Qatar, Ahmad bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud

Al-Mishri stressed “the depth of fraternal relations with Qatar”, and praised the Gulf nation’s “honorable stances towards Libya”, expressing hope that the so-called “siege on the Qatari people”—Arab Quartet’s boycott of Qatar—would be lifted soon.

In late October this year the Minister of Interior of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Fathi Bashagha, signed security agreements with Qatar which the Libyan National Army (LNA) was a violation of the outcomes of the Geneva 5+5 join military dialogues.
