LNA General Command: LNA Controls Sebha’s Situation After Bashagha Fuels Conflict – Al Marsad

The General Command of the Libyan National Army (LNA) announced that its units in the Sebha military region were monitoring movement of elements described as “subversive” belonging to the Presidential Council.

(Libya, 4 January 2021) – Major General Ahmed al-Mismari, the spokesperson for the LNA said in his statement that the movements of these “saboteurs” are under orders from Turkish intelligence, which currently leads all operations in support of the Muslim Brotherhood and Takfiri militias and gangs.

“After completing investigations, it was confirmed that these elements received funds from Tripoli to destabilize security and stability in southern Libya, especially the city of Sebha, and are busy recruiting foreign mercenaries,” the statement added.

According to the General Command’s statement, the commander of the Sebha military region confirmed that “units from the region are confronting these trails of extremism and crime and have taken control of their headquarters in one of the sports clubs in the city”.

Furthermore, the General Command warned all against trying to undermine security and stability in Sebha and its surroundings.

It is noteworthy that the movements of the Government of National Accord (GNA) militants in Sebha came after a meeting of the Misratan Minister of Interior of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Fathi Bashagha, with a group from the Tebu tribes supporting the Governor of the southern region affiliated with the Sarraj-loyalist, Ali Kana.

During the meeting, Bashagha announced his intention to impose GNA rule in the entire southern region.
