Il Foglio: Italy Sees Maitiq and Haftar as Potential Peacemakers in Libya January 28, 2021 Libya The Italian newspaper “Il Foglio” said Italy seems to have revised its plans for Libya in light of the recent moves by the Italian intelligence. It claims Italy views Maitiq and Haftar as potential peacemakers. (Libya, 28 January 2021) – According to the Italian Agenzia Nova, the revised plan was based first and foremost on identifying two personalities as potential peacemakers in Libya:, namely, the Deputy Head of the Government of National Accord (GNA) Ahmed Maitiq in the West, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, in the East.
