Greece Announces the Resumption of its Diplomatic Institutions in Libya – Al Marsad

The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Saturday the resumption of the work of its diplomatic institutions in Libya.

(Libya, 7 February 2021) – According to the Russian news agency Sputnik, the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in its statement: “In the light of yesterday’s events, especially the election of interim President of the Presidential Council Mohamed al-Manfi, members of the Council and the Libyan Prime Minister at the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF), the Greek embassy in Tripoli will resume its work immediately with the decision of the Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias.”

“At the same time, the necessary operations will be launched to open the Greek Consulate General in Benghazi,” read the statement.

Greece welcomed yesterday the formation of the interim Presidential Council that is to govern until the elections of 24 December 2021.
