Salwa El-Daghili: Dbaiba’s Government Has to End Presence of Foreign Forces, Mercenaries and Militias – Al Marsad

Former Libyan delegate to the United Nations and current member of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF), Salwa El-Daghili, said that there are some fundamental goals that should be the basis for Abdel Hamid Dbaiba’s government actions. The goals include ending the presence of foreign forces and mercenaries, work to dissolve militias, alleviate the suffering of citizens, and improve the standard of living and provide basic necessities.

(Libya, 14 March 2021) – In a statement to Al-Dustour newspaper in Egypt, Dr Salwa El-Daghili said that “national reconciliation must be launched through the release of prisoners, the return of displaced persons, and the preparation for elections at the end of the year.”

She also added, that “we must not forget that everything that has been mentioned is related to the ability of the government to pursue its policies independently and without pressure from armed groups.” El -Daghili said that this would be possible only if Dbaiba and his government, in addition to the Presidential Council, “decide to take the city of Sirte as the seat of power, so that they will be free and independent in their decision making without intimidation or coercion, unlike those executed by the former authorities.”
