Anani: The International Criminal Court Should Investigate Sarraj’s Crimes – Al Marsad

The Secretary-General of the Norwegian Organization for Justice and Peace (NISJP) in Oslo, Tariq Anani, said that Libya falls within the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court (ICC), under Security Council Resolution 1973 of 2011, therefore, a lawsuit could be launched to investigate war crimes committed by militias and armed groups loyal to the outgoing President of the Presidential Council, Fayez al-Sarraj.

(Libya, 17 March 2021) – In a statement to media on Tuesday, the Secretary-General of the Norwegian Organization for Justice and Peace, Dr Tariq Anani, said out that there are documented crimes committed by these militias, and which demand a legal trial, especially as Fayez al-Sarraj used them in his war against the Libyan National Army (LNA). He said the LNA wanted to protect the state from terrorist organizations, and foreign interventions, which spread hugely during the Sarraj’s reign.

Anani called on the government of Abdul Hamid al-Dbaiba not to leave these crimes without accountability, and to act internationally to convince the ICC to open this investigation, to ensure that justice is achieved and the perpetrators do not go unpunished.
