Ihya Libya Welcomes UN Resolution and Will Run in Presidential and Parliamentary Elections – Al Marsad

The Ihya Libya (Reviving Libya) Movement issued a statement on the two binding resolutions issued by the UN Security Council in support of holding the Presidential and Parliamentary elections on 24 December 2021, and on the candidacy of its chairman and members of the movement in the upcoming elections.

(LIBYA, 17 April 2021) – The text of the statement read, “Further to our memorandum sent to the United Nations and several capitals on November 14, 2020, and the previous correspondence, we thank the UN Security Council for responding to what was stated in these documents, which is the same as the demands of the Libyan people (according to numerous opinion polls) to hold direct Presidential and Parliamentary Elections on time on 24 December 2021.”

Ihya Libya affirmed its support for all provisions of the two binding UN Security Council resolutions, Resolution 2570 and Resolution 2571 of 2021, that were issued on Friday.

The movement also announced in the statement that it would launch its campaigns for the Presidential elections with its presidential candidate Dr. Aref Ali Nayed, as well as for the parliamentary elections with female and male candidates from Libya’s young men and women who share the Ihya Libya’s pan-Libya unifying vision.

The statement said Ihya Libya will begin to open branches of the movement across the country as soon as possible, to hold training and awareness courses and youth activities after Eid al-Fitr.
