The Libyan National Army (LNA), led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, has boosted its combat readiness in the southern area of Kufra near the border with Chad after the death of President Idriss Déby.

(LIBYA, 23 April 2021) – A report published by Russia’s Sputnik agency quoted a military source in Libya that said the LNA was preparing to send its forces to the border with Chad.

A statement by the LNA said: “The combat readiness of all land and air forces [in the Kufra District] has been boosted.”

The LNA said, according to the report,  that it had sufficient forces and equipment to thwart any attempts to undermine security and stability in the region.

According to AlMarsad sources, the LNA Air Force’s Operations Room launched an armed air reconnaissance operation along the border between Libya and Chad last night after midnight, in addition to sending ground and air support units to Al-Sarra base in anticipation of developments in northern Chad.
