Bugaighis: Tampering with the Electoral Commission Would Lead to Miscarriage of Electoral Process – Al Marsad

Member of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF)’s Legal Committee, Amal Bugaighis, sent a letter to the Sovereign Positions Committee warning that any tampering of the High National Electoral Commission (HNEC) would be a miscarriage of the electoral process.

(Libya, 26 April 2021) – In a post on her official Facebook page, legal expert Amal Bugaighis said that any prejudice to the High National Electoral Commission (HNEC) would be a miscarriage of the electoral process, and an obvious obstruction of the effort and work of responsible people.

Bugaighis urged the Sovereign Positions Committee to let HNEC do its “sacred work” of preparing the elections, and not to give way to those who blatantly intend to refuse the Libyan public the right to renew political legitimacy

She urged the people, who she said were the “source of all authority”, and who are who are looking forward to the upcoming elections, to stand together against any attempt at compromising the HNEC. Bugaighis said that was everyone’s duty.
