December 24 Movement: We Will Not Allow More Time Wasted, Elections Must be Held on Schedule – Al Marsad

December 24 movement, civil society activists and political elites in Tobruk said that holding elections on time was a popular demand by the public and a democratic right of all Libyan people.

(Libya, 26 April 2021) – In a statement addressed to the United Nations Support Mission to Libya (UNSMIL) and members of the Libyan Political Dialogue Committee (LPDF), the Presidential Council and the Government of National Unity (GNU), the December 24 Movement said that people are still suffering from many problems—political, economic and social—which have affected the capabilities of their country and the future of its people, in addition to the loss of Libya’s international standing.

The statement urged the Presidential Council and the interim GNU to accelerate the realization of this demand and democratic right for elections on schedule. They urged everyone currently at the forefront of the political scene to work sincerely and prepare to hold the elections as scheduled.

The December 24 Movement stressed that they will not allow anymore time wasted that could undermine elections taking place this December.
