Al-Abani: Appointing Al-Haddad as Chief of General Staff was a Mistake by Dbaiba – Al Marsad

Member of the House of Representatives (HoR) Mohammed al-Abani said he rejected any policy of fait accompli by the interim Government of National Unity (GNU) with regards to the post of Chief of General Staff.

(Libya, 2 May 2021) – In a post on his personal account on Facebook, which he posted with a picture of Major General Abdul-Razeq al-Nadhouri, the Chief of Staff in the Libyan National Army (LNA) and senior commanders, al-Abani said al-Nadhouri is the person who “the HoR assigned as Chief of General Staff.”

He said it was mistake by Abdul Hamid al-Dbaiba to appoint Mohammed al-Haddad as Chief of General Staff, given that Major General Abdul-Razeq al-Nadhouri was already appointed by the HoR as head of the General Staff of the LNA in accordance with Law No.11 of 2012.

“It is not impossible for the HoR to change it if it wants, but it is a shame for Dbaiba to have appointed al-Haddad. The position is not valid as long as Major General al-Nadhuri still holds the position. The HoR has insisted that such acts offend our Libyan armed forces.”
