Al-Menfi and Turkish Delegation Discuss Bilateral Ties and Berlin II Conference Issues – Al Marsad

The Chairman of the Presidential Council, Mohamed al-Menfi, met yesterday with a high-level Turkish delegation headed by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.

(LIBYA, 13 June 2021) – A press release issued by media office Mohamed al-Menfi indicated that at the meeting, which was also attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Najla al-Mangoush and Minister of Interior Khaled al-Tijani of the interim Government of National Unity (GNU), the Turkish delegation renewed Turkey’s support for the stability and unity of Libya.

The statement said al-Menfi stressed stressed the depth of the historical relations between the two countries, and the importance of enhancing cooperation opportunities and developing bilateral relations. They also reviewed the outcomes and results of previous meetings, starting with the visit of the Chairman of the Presidential Council to Turkey last March and the subsequent visits between officials of the two countries.

According to the statement, the Turkish delegation highlighted the importance of continuing cooperation in the fields of training security and police institutions, demining, curbing illegal immigration, and combating organized crime. They also discussed consultations on the Berlin II conference, support for the political track, and unification of regional efforts to achieve international consensus that supports the stability, security and unity of Libya.
