LNA General Command: The Armed Forces Move to the Southwest to Eliminate Terrorism – Al Marsad

The spokesperson for the General Command of the Armed Forces, Major General Ahmed Al-Mismari, issued a media statement on the movement of military units from the Libyan National Army (LNA), which aim to secure the southern region and tackle terrorism following recent attacks in the area. 

(LIBYA, 18 June 2021) – The LNA statement confirmed the recent escalation of terrorist operations carried out by Takfiri gangs in the southwest of the country, after a car bomb attack at a security and military site. The LNA is monitoring their movements  with the help of its military Intelligence, leading to the leadership’s decision to move its units to the southern region due to the threat they pose.

The statement added that the LNA General Command directed units of the infantry battalions to head to the area in order to support the southern operations room, and track down Takfiri terrorists and expel African mercenary gangs that threaten security and stability and who practice looting, theft, sabotage and smuggling of all kinds.

The statement explained that this military operation comes within the framework of implementing the tasks and duties entrusted to the LNA General Command in maintaining the security of the homeland and the safety of its citizen, eradicating terrorism, and tackling anyone who wishes to harm the security of Libya and the dignity of Libyans.
