Dbaiba Discusses Libyan Elections and Expulsion of Foreign Fighters with Congressman Ted Deutch – Al Marsad

The Prime Minister of the Interim Government of National Unity (GNU), Abdul Hamid Dbaiba, held a telephone call with Republican member of the US House of Representatives, Ted Deutch, on holding free and fair elections on time.

(LIBYA, 19 June 2021) – Prime Minister of the Interim Government of National Unity (GNU), Abdul Hamid Dbaiba said on his twitter page: “I spoke with the American representative on the hard work that Libyans are doing to rebuild together and prepare for elections.”

Dbaiba praised the efforts of US Congressman Ted Deutch for his important work on Libya Stabilization Act, stressing that the Libyan people appreciate Deutch’s commitment to democracy and peace.

The Libya Stabilization Act was a bipartisan bill introduced by Congressman Ted Deutch (FL-22), Chair of the Subcommittee on the Middle East, North Africa, and Global Counterterrorism.

Ted Deutch said on his twitter page about the meeting: “I had a fruitful call with interim Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbaiba to discuss holding free and fair elections on time, unifying national institutions, and removing foreign fighters, protection of migrants, and ensuring humanitarian access.”
