Dbaiba Agrees with Erdogan to Address Problem of Letters of Guarantee for Turkish Companies in Libya – Al Marsad

On Saturday a working session was held in Istanbul between the Prime Minister of the interim Government of National Unity (GNU), Abdul Hamid Dbaiba, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in the presence of the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), Siddik al-Kabir.

(LIBYA, 7 August 2021) –  According to the Turkish Anadolu Agency, the two parties agreed to address the existing problems regarding letters of guarantee for Turkish companies contracted in Libya, and the debts accumulated. It said that the two parties agreed to hold the second meeting of the Libyan-Turkish Strategic Cooperation Council in Tripoli next October, in the presence of the Turkish President.

The session also discussed the return of Turkish companies to work in Libya, and a number of executive measures were developed that would help the return of Turkish companies.

The Libyan and Turkish sides also agreed to develop a number of administrative and technical facilities through which the volume of trade exchange will be increased, and to sign a number of agreements to achieve this.

The session was also attended from the Libyan side by Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Adel Juma, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for General Affairs and Advisor to the Governor of the CBL, while from the Turkish side attended by the Ministers of Trade and Finance, the Governor of the Central Bank of Turkey, and the Chief of General Intelligence.
