LIFG’s Al-Saadi: We Must Unite Against Haftar’s Participation in the Elections – Al Marsad

Leading member of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) and of the Dar al-Ifta in Tripoli, Sami al-Saadi, commented on the statement by the Libyan National Army (LNA)’s Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, who said the army will not be subject to any authority unless it is elected by the people, who were the source of all authority.

(LIBYA, 11 August 2021) – The LIFG Islamist Sami al-Saadi, who is close to the terrorist Shura Councils of Benhgazi and Derna, and is the author of legal fatwas on the bombing of civilians in Benghazi, took issue with Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar’s statement.

In a post on his Facebook on Tuesday, al-Saadi said: “Now after the rebel Haftar’s statement that he will not submit to any authority, everyone who is against militarization of the state must unify their positions against his participation in the elections.” Al-Saadi called for the differences to be forgotten, even if temporarily, so they can stand the LNA Commander-in-Chief.

The terrorist LIFG member, along with various Islamist media organisations, have been busy distorting the words of Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar who in his speech said very clearly that the army would not be subject to any authority unless it is elected by the people.

Islamist and pro-Turkey groups in Libyan have redoubled efforts in their quest to postpone elections and deny the Libyan people the right to choose their leaders.
