GNU MFA: Algeria Conference Is An Opportunity to Achieve Stability in Libya – Al Marsad

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the interim Government of National Unity (GNU) described the consultative ministerial meeting of Libya’s neighbouring countries which is being held in Algeria today as an opportunity for further consultation and coordination on the latest developments in the region.

A press statement issued by GNU Foreign Ministry confirmed that this meeting, which is held today and tomorrow (30-31 August 2021) in Algeria upon the invitation of the Algerian government, is an opportunity to discuss ways to support the “Libya Stabilisation” initiative launched by Foreign Minister Najla a-Mangoush at the Berlin II conference, which aims to end all forms of interference in internal affairs of the country.

The statement added that the meeting was a step towards holding an international conference chaired and hosted by Libya, with the participation of all regional and international actors who are involved in the Libyan file, to achieve security and stability on the entire Libyan soil and unify the state’s sovereign institutions—especially the military and security ones—in order to reach the electoral elections on time.

The Presidential and Parliamentary elections are set for 24 December 2021 and over 2.8 million Libyan citizens have registered with the Electoral Commission to vote.
