Participants in the Algeria Meeting Call for Expulsion of all Foreign Forces and Mercenaries from Libya – Al Marsad

Participants at the ministerial meeting in Algeria of Libya’s neighboring countries affirmed their keenness to protect Libya’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

According to a statement by the Algerian Press Agency the participants called for the removal of all foreign forces and mercenaries from Libya as soon as possible and the settlement of the crisis away from any military solutions or foreign interference. They called on the Libyan parties to return to the political track.

The statement added that this path is internationally sponsored within the framework of the political agreement and relevant UN Security Council resolutions. The participants stressed their categorical rejection of terrorism and violence, whatever its form and source, and the need for coordination and cooperation in order to address all threats to the security and stability of Libya and the countries of the region.

The participants expressed their support for the efforts and initiatives to find a solution to the crisis through the outputs of the Berlin I and II conference. The statement by Algerian News Agency said it was within this framework that Algeria sought to host meetings between the Libyan parties to bring the views closer, return to the dialogue table, and negotiate to end the crisis in Libya in a manner that preserves its sovereignty and territorial integrity and meets the aspirations of its people.
