El-Sisi to Dbaiba: Egypt is Ready to Assist in Implementing December Elections – Al Marsad

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received today, Thursday, in Cairo the Libya Prime Minister of the interim Government of Unity (GNU), Abdel Hamid Dbaiba, in the presence of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, and head of the General Intelligence Directorate (EGID), Abbas Kamel.

According to the official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, El-Sisi welcomed Dbaiba’s visit to Egypt to participate in the meetings of the Libyan-Egyptian Joint Committee, stressing the highest priority that Egypt attaches to restoring stability to Libya. and enabling it to restore its regional and international role.

El-Sisi also noted Egypt’s firm stance towards respecting Libyan sovereignty, preserving its territorial integrity, and rejecting all forms of foreign interference in Libyan internal affairs, as well as strengthening the cohesion of Libyan national institutions and unifying the Libyan armed forces to protect the capabilities of the Libyan people and their freedom.

He praised the efforts of the Dbaiba government on the domestic front to improve the living conditions of the Libyan citizen, expressing his confidence in the ability of the Libyan people to overcome all the immediate challenges and lead towards rebuilding a strong modern state capable of laying the foundations of security and stability throughout Libya.

Libyan Prime Minister Dbaiba expressed his country’s appreciation and gratitude at both the official and popular levels for the crucial Egyptian role played under the leadership of El-Sisi in helping peace and stability in Libya. Dbaiba said he was particularly grateful for Egypt’s role in supporting Libyan national institutions and transferring their experience and knowledge.

Dbaiba said Egypt is influential in the fields of reconstruction and development for Libya, in a way that meets the aspirations of the Libyan people towards a safe and dignified life. He expressed his hope of improving Libyan-Egyptian relations in all fields, and to support Egyptian investments to implement various projects on Libyan territory.

The Egyptian spokesperson added that the meeting witnessed discussions on the latest developments in Libyan, and that President El-Sisi praised the recent issuance of the election law for the head of state by the House of Representatives, which he saw as an important step in implementing the Roadmap and leading the country to Parliamentary and Presidential elections on schedule by the end of the year.

El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s readiness to provide all necessary assistance in order to help the Libyan people prepare the necessary climate for the implementation of this very important electoral entitlement.
